Biosolids Upgrade at North Head Wastewater Treatment

We are planning to upgrade the facilities at our North Head Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The benefits of the project include better quality biosolids and reduced odour from truck movements through Manly.
The project involves building two new digesters, a new dewatering facility and new sludge thickening equipment. These changes will help to ensure the reliability of our operations and that we continue to meet the requirements of our Environment Protection Licence.
We believe we have a role in protecting the environment and aim to beneficially re-use as many of the by-products of wastewater treatment as possible. Better quality biosolids can be diverted from landfill and reused in agriculture, meaning a positive outcome for the environment.
As part of our concept design we have considered the project’s environmental impacts and how they can be mitigated. More information can be found below.
