Under the ProMac project we are building new drinking water pipelines and infrastructure between Prospect South and Macarthur as part of Sydney Water's long-term plan to extend the city’s water capacity and supply.

ProMac will upgrade our existing water reservoirs at Liverpool, Cecil Park and Currans Hill as well as build two new reservoirs at Oran Park. This will allow for an extra 100 Megalitres of additional reservoir capacity in Western Sydney. That’s the equivalent of about 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools!

We’re also building 15 km of additional pipework, three pumping stations and upgrading our existing network to ensure growing communities in South Western Sydney have access to clean drinking water.

Sydney Water is investing in new infrastructure that will support the growing, dynamic South Western Sydney.

ProMac will help Sydney Water deliver on its vision of creating a better life with world-class water services.

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

As part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) project we are replacing the reservoir in Currans Hill so that it can reliably supply water to the community for decades to come.

We are continuing to use a crane to dismantle the reservoir wall panels. To dismantle the final row of panels at the base of the reservoir, we need to remove the grout seal. We plan to undertake this work using an excavator and small hammer attachment from Tuesday 3 May 2022. This activity will take up to four shifts to complete, weather permitting.

The grout is embedded in a channel in the concrete foundation around the outside of the tank. To give residents respite from noise and vibration, jack hammering works will occur in three-hour blocks, with one hour breaks in between.

    This work will involve:

    • using a 5 tonne excavator with a small cylindrical hammer attachment to break away grout from concrete using elevated work platforms to dismantle the tank in sections
    • lifting sections of panels with the use of a crane
    • transporting components that can’t be re-used or recycled offsite by truck.

    Upcoming night work

We have recently completed installation of the valve on Prairie Vale Road between Crow Place and Apache Road. We previously advised you that the final connection for this valve would occur on Friday 21 January 2022. Due to postponements out of our control, this work did not go ahead as planned. We are now ready to complete the final connection.
