Prospect South to Macarthur (ProMac)

Prior to Liverpool Council completing road resurfacing of Feodore Drive, we will be working for one day on Tuesday 7 December 2021 between the hours of 7am and 6pm on Feodore Drive between Clementina Circuit and Lancaster Avenue (see map overleaf). We will endeavour to complete this work as quickly as possible.

This work is required to repair subsidence in the road. Due the size of the area needing repair, a full day shift will be required.

Traffic changes

To create a safe zone for workers, there will be a temporary lane closure of a section of Feodore Drive. Traffic will be directed to use the clear side of Feodore Drive with the assistance of traffic control. Motorists may experience some delays. Please see map overleaf for location of this temporary closure.

Local access will be maintained for residents during our working hours, however you may experience some delays. We apologise for the inconvenience.

This work will involve:

• using our temporary works compound located on Lancaster Avenue opposite the Cecil Hills Shopping Village
• digging in the road way with an excavator and hand tools
• backfilling and temporarily restoring the impacted area.

Feodore Drive Works Map

We have completed installation of the pipeline along Cross Street and Western Road and are currently completing testing and commissioning works. We will complete a final connection to connect the new main to the existing network at Elizabeth Drive. We will complete this work at night on Monday 6 December 2021 between 6 pm and 7 am, weather permitting.

Water outage

While this connection is completed, some residents will experience water outages for up to seven hours on Monday 6 December 2021 only between 9 pm and 4 am. Sydney Water will notify all affected residents in a separate letter.

Location of work

Sydney Water is working to expand our network to meet increased demands from growth in South West Sydney. As part of this work we are building a water pumping station, a reservoir and water pipelines within our Liverpool Reservoir facility in Cecil Hills to provide drinking water services for 84,000 new homes in the South West Growth Area, Western Sydney Aerotropolis Growth Area, Liverpool CBD and Menangle Park.

As part of these works, we need to use a vacuum truck to locate the existing watermain under Green Valley Road, Cecil Hills (near the corner of Wilson Road). Please refer to map for location of work. These investigation works are necessary to support planning for a new pipe valve to be installed in the roadway in 2022.

Upcoming work

Site investigation and surveying activities will begin on Monday 29 November 2021. This work will take two days to complete, weather permitting.

Traffic changes

As we complete this work, there will be speed reductions in place along Green Valley Road and Wilson Road. There will be a temporary closure of the westbound lane along Green Valley Road near the corner of Wilson Road. All traffic will share use of the eastbound lane on a stop-slow arrangement. Traffic controllers will safely assist pedestrians around our work zone.

As part of this project, we are installing a valve in the laneway at the rear of the Mimosa Road Shops, Bossley Park (please see map for location of work). Due to unforeseen delays on other projects and the fast approaching Christmas shutdown period, we have postponed these works until the New Year. We will notify you again before we commence work.

We have completed installation of the new water pipeline in Kemps Creek and are now continuing with testing and commissioning works. We need to pressure test the pipeline to ensure there are no leaks before connecting it to the existing network. During this final testing stage of the project we will be working in localised areas along the pipe’s alignment until Thursday 23 December 2021, weather permitting (please see map) .

This work will involve:

• excavating small pits using specialist plant
• backfilling the pits and temporarily restoring the impacted area
• changes in local traffic.

Traffic changes

During the works there will be changes to traffic conditions on Cross Street and Western Road. Lane closures and traffic control will be in place to safely assist motorists around our work areas.

Restoration

We have temporarily restored disturbed areas to allow for continued access to the pipeline for testing and commissioning. When work is complete in December 2021, weather permitting, we will work with your local council to complete permanent restoration.

We will be working for two consecutive nights on Saturday 13 November 2021 and Sunday 14 November 2021, weather permitting, between the hours of 9 pm and 6 am on Feodore Drive between Inverness Circuit and Clementina Circuit (see map for location of work).

This work is required to repair a manhole attached to the new water main. We will need to complete this work at night to avoid disruption to local bus services and peak traffic volumes experienced during the day.

Traffic changes

We are upgrading the existing water pumping station inside Prospect Reservoir as part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) project. As part of these works, we will be installing a valve in the laneway at the rear of the Mimosa Road Shops, Bossley Park to control the pressure of the water as it enters homes. There will also be a small electrical cabinet and pits installed on the council verge outside 2 Quarry Road, Bossley Park.

These works will commence on Monday 15 November 2021, and expect to finish by the end of December 2021, weather permitting. There will be an interruption to water supply during the final stages of work. Residents will be notified before this occurs.

Traffic and bus stop changes

There will be changed pedestrian and traffic conditions as we work in the laneway behind the Mimosa Road Shops. A section of footpath, access to the laneway from Quarry Road and staff parking at the rear of the shops will be temporarily closed for the duration of the work.

The bus stop (ID 2176144) at 2 Quarry Road will be temporarily relocated approximately 30 metres to the west. Traffic controllers will manage vehicle and pedestrian movement around the work area to keep you safe.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to observe all project signage and traffic control directions during construction. Please see map for the location of work.

Location of work

On Saturday 30 October, the first connection was made between the newly completed pipeline in William Howe Regional Park, and the existing network which feeds into the Narellan South Reservoir in Mount Annan. There will be multiple points of connection following this event, with the next to occur in just over two weeks time.

To complete the connection, Sydney Water shutdown the reservoir for 24 hours from 7 am on Saturday. This involved closing the valves and flushing water from the existing main. The connection was made without affecting the water supply for Sydney Water customers. It took one hour for the existing capped end to be sawed open, with an additional 4 hours spent welding a new flanged rim to the existing end. The final fitting of the new pipeline was then lifted into position and bolted to the existing main.

The ProMac team has kept the Mount Annan community up to date with the progress of works in William Howe Regional Park. Prior to the connection works commencing, the 12 properties within 100 metres of the works were doorknocked so the team could explain the proposed activities and answer any questions.

This area of pipeline is just one of 18 packages of work within the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) program. To date, our contractor Vaughan Civil has installed around 50 percent of the 4,379m pipeline in Menangle Park, William Howe Regional Park and Australian Botanic Garden in Mount Annan.

As part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) Program, we recently completed the refurbishment of the existing 30 megalitre reservoir at Cecil Park. The timing of these works was planned in 2020 to coincide with lower water demands by our customers during a late autumn / winter / early spring shutdown.

These works were delivered on time and are now ready for the peak summer demand period. The scope of works included structural upgrades to the reservoir roof and replacement of the existing internal bitumen lining with a durable epoxy paint. Roof repairs encompassed a 50% replacement of sheeting and steel repairs to beams. Other additions include new hatches, ventilation and divers’ ladders.

Cecil Park Reservoir is connected to the new water trunk main currently being installed from Liverpool reservoir to Kemps Creek and will meet the increased demands from growth in South West Sydney and the new Aerotropolis.
