Prospect South to Macarthur (ProMac)

In Kemps Creek, we are installing 4.5 km of new water main to ensure our existing and future customers continue to have reliable access to clean drinking water. We have completed installation of the pipeline along Cross Street and Western Road and will now connect this main to the existing network at Elizabeth Drive.

We will complete preparation works on Tuesday 2 November 2021 during the daytime between 7 am and 6 pm and then complete the final connection works at night on Wednesday 3 November 2021 between 7 pm and 8 am, weather permitting. We will maintain access to the adjacent service road however, there may be some minor delays. Traffic control will be in place to safely assist motorists around our work area. Water outage

While this connection is completed, some residents will experience water outages for up to five hours on Wednesday 3 November 2021 only between 9 pm and 2 am. Sydney Water will notify all affected residents in a separate letter.

As part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) project we are building a new drinking water pipeline between the Narellan South Reservoir in Mount Annan and Sugarloaf Pump Station in Menangle Park.

We have completed installation of the pipeline inside William Howe Regional Park and will now connect this main to the Narellan South Reservoir. Due to operational requirements, this work will take place over a weekend from 6.30 am Saturday 30 October to 6.30 am Sunday 31 October 2021.

Water outage

We’ll need to work in Balmoral Circuit near the intersection of Lancaster Avenue to access and remove an air valve pit and test the new pipe. This work will take up to four days to complete between Monday 25 October and 8 November 2021, weather permitting.

Our work will include:

• digging and removing the air valve pit located within the road and road verge
• testing the new pipes
• restoring the impacted areas.

Work hours

• 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
• 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays
• We will not work on Sundays or public holidays.

Traffic changes

As we complete this work, there will be a temporary closure of the westbound lane along Balmoral Circuit between Lancaster Avenue and Angela Street. Traffic will be on a stop-slow arrangement and there will also be pedestrian detours.

Traffic controllers will be in place to safely assist vehicles and pedestrians around our work area. Please see map overleaf for location of work.

As part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) project we are upgrading the existing reservoirs at Liverpool and Cecil Park as well as building two new reservoirs at Oran Park to allow for a total of 100 ML of additional reservoir capacity.

We are also upgrading the existing water pumping station inside Prospect Reservoir to provide drinking water services for 84,000 new homes in the South West Growth Area and Western Sydney Aerotropolis Growth Area.

As part of these works, we will be installing an air valve on the corner of Twenty Fifth Avenue and Twenty Sixth Avenue in West Hoxton which will release any built-up air in the drinking water pipeline. This air valve will ensure the performance of the pipe is maintained. Works will begin on Monday 18 October 2021, expected to finish by the end of October 2021, weather permitting. There will be an interruption to water supply during the final stages of work. Residents will be notified before this occurs.

Work will involve:

• investigating and surveying the area

• digging in the council verge and road to install the valve

• restoration of impacted areas.

Traffic changes

During the works there will be changes to traffic conditions. A lane closure and traffic control will be in place to safely assist motorists around our work area. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to observe all project signage and traffic control directions during construction. Please see map for the location of work.

We are installing 26 cathodic protection pits and test points along the verge of Cross Street and Western Road. Cathodic protection is a system used to extend the life of the steel water main by minimising corrosion of the pipe. This requires installing sacrificial metals (anodes) alongside the pipeline which corrode at a faster rate than the steel main. These anodes are attached to the pipe with cables which lead up to an above-ground test point mounted on a pole and a cabinet (see image below).

The work will be happening in localised areas between Monday 11 October and Saturday 30 October 2021, weather permitting.

Location of work

We are continuing with blasting and painting works on the tank’s interior surface. This process involves using abrasive grit blasting to remove rust and welding residue to leave a smooth surface for painting.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we are behind schedule and will continue working extended hours to ensure the reservoir is operational in time for summer when demand for water is higher.

Our work hours

• 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
• 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays

We will continue working on Saturdays and Sundays until Sunday 5 December 2021.

What you need to know

This work will not affect your water services. We know our work can be disruptive, so we’ll make every effort to reduce any impact this work may have on you, this includes:

• completing blasting works inside the tank under negative air pressure to stop dust from exiting the tank
• not working in windy conditions
• moving equipment such as generators and compressors as far away from properties as reasonably practicable.

Unfortunately, blasting activities are noisy, and we apologise for the inconvenience while we complete this task.

We are building a water pumping station, a reservoir and water pipelines within our Liverpool Reservoir facility in Cecil Hills.

Work will begin to install electrical cabling by tunnelling underneath Cowpasture Road. To minimise impacts to traffic during the day, we’ll complete this work over 10 night shifts between Wednesday 22 September and Friday 15 October 2021, weather permitting.

Traffic changes

During the works there will be changes to traffic conditions on Cowpasture Road. Lane closures and a speed reduction will be in place for the safety of motorists and our workers. Please see map for the location of work.

Our work hours

From Wednesday 22 September we’ll be working at night.

When tunnelling under Cowpasture Road (underbore), we will need to work five consecutive nights to complete this work. For all other activities work will be limited to three nights in a row followed by one night’s rest before work re-commences.

Our nightwork hours:

• Monday to Sunday 7 pm to 6 am

Our standard (day) hours:

• Monday to Friday 7 am to 6 pm

• Saturday 8 am to 1 pm, if required.

As part of the Prospect to Macarthur (ProMac) project we are upgrading the existing reservoir at Cecil Park. We need to repair the entrance to the access road on Elizabeth Drive leading up to the reservoir.

The work will take place between 7 pm Sunday 5 September and 7 am Monday 6 September 2021, weather permitting. We will do this work over one night to minimise impacts to road users during the day.

Traffic changes

We will need to close a section of the westbound lane on Elizabeth Drive between Duff Road and Cecil Road, Cecil Park. All traffic will share the use of the eastbound lane along Elizabeth Drive, managed by traffic controllers. Motorists may experience some delays during this work. Please see map for location of work.

What you need to know

We need to return to the eastern end of Feodore Drive between Lancaster Avenue and Clementina Circuit to complete some repair work and install new ground material above the new water pipe. The pipe will not need to be removed to complete this work. This work will start on Wednesday 1 September 2021 and continue for one week, weather permitting.

Traffic changes

As we work in Feodore Drive between Lancaster Avenue and Clementina Circuit, there will be a one week road closure in place for 24-hours a day. Local access will be maintained for residents, however there will be delays. Detours around Feodore Drive will be in place via Spencer Road. Traffic controllers will safely assist vehicles and pedestrians around our work area. There will be increased truck movements through Cecil Hills as this work is completed.

Bus changes

Bus services 807, 827 and school buses will continue to terminate at Cecil Hills High School, with a shuttle bus service to operate along Feodore Drive between Clementina Circuit and the high school. Please allow extra time in planning your journey.

Ten months into construction, we have installed over 62% of the 16km pipeline as part of the Prospect South to Macarthur (ProMac) project – made possible by the great work across the project team, our delivery partner ACCIONA and delivery contractors.

Our pipeline progress in numbers:

• Liverpool Reservoir to Cecil Hills – 1.8km of 1.9km complete
• Cecil Hills to Cecil Park Reservoir in Western Sydney Parklands – 2.7km of 3.6km complete. (The underbore of the Westlink M7 Motorway was completed last week, so we are ready to lay the pipe.)
• Range Road to Western Road in Kemps Creek – 4.2 km of 4.6km complete
• Narellan South Reservoir (Mount Annan) to Sugarloaf Pumping Station (Menangle Park) – 1.3km of 6km complete.
