Shared Path update
Work to build the two kilometre Green Square stormwater drain is progressing. This update provides information on the shared path, expected to be open in mid 2018.
Sydney Water, in partnership with the City of Sydney, is building a two kilometre underground stormwater
drain from Epsom Road, Zetland to the existing stormwater system at Alexandra Canal in Alexandria.
As part of the project, we’ll install a 350 metre section of shared path on Sydney Water and City of Sydney land along the eastern side of the Shea’s Creek stormwater channel. This channel runs between Maddox Street and the start of Alexandra Canal, to the south of Huntley Street. The path is part of a long-term commitment by both state and local governments to create the Alexandra Canal Path
along the entire length of the canal. The Alexandra Canal Path is part of a wider connectivity
plan. It forms part of the City’s Sustainable Sydney 2030 strategy and the 2001 Alexandra Canal Masterplan. This section of the path between Maddox Street and the Alexandra Canal is being built by the DG Alliance, the team formed by Sydney Water and the City of Sydney to build the new stormwater drain. We expect to have this section of the shared path completed by mid 2018.
