Where are we up to now?
Here's an update on what we've been up to. So far, we’ve been busy engaging with the community and key stakeholders to get their thoughts on what they value about the Hawkesbury-Nepean Rivers, discussing pressures facing the waterways and the options for future management.
- During the warmer months, our team surveyed 168 visitors to the waterway to find out what they value about the local area.
- We set up five community reference groups in the catchment and met with them three times each earlier this year. Our participants contributed to great discussions and we gathered some really valuable feedback from the process.
- We’ve met with nine local councils, representatives of the development industry and Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council to further understand the pressures facing the waterways as a result of growth across the catchment.
- We conducted telephone surveys with 600 residents across greater Sydney about their experiences with the waterways and their preferences for future waterway management.
While this stage of engagement is now complete, we're always on the lookout for community feedback. Keep an eye out on Sydney Water Talk for future engagement activities related to the Hawkesbury Nepean and other waterways across Sydney!
The project team will now work through our findings, and we'll make sure to keep you updated on future management for Hawkesbury-Nepean.Thank you to everyone who took the time to talk to us and share their thoughts!
