Picton Water Recycling Plant

The Picton Water Recycling Plant services Picton, Tahmoor, Thirlmere, Bargo and Buxton. As these communities continue to grow wastewater inflow to the plant has increased, exceeding our capacity to reuse the recycled water at the Picton Farm.

We currently use the recycled water for irrigating 119 hectares of land at our Picton Farm. On occasions, we also need to discharge excess recycled water into Stonequarry Creek. This is controlled through an Environmental Protection Licence which is regulated by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

Developing a new approach to managing the recycled water is complex and challenging, but essential to allow new homes and businesses to connect to the wastewater system.
