Malabar Water Resource Recovery Facility Plant - Biomethane Project

Biomethane project

What's involved?

Sydney Water in collaboration with Jemena and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), are working together to produce green biogas. The gas will be produced from sewerage biosolids, a by-product of wastewater treatment, into biomethane which will then be blended into the existing gas distribution network for domestic use in homes and businesses in Sydney.

This project will help Sydney Water reach our net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050.

For more information about this project visit Jemena's website.
