Mackey Park – Community Update

Sydney Water and Inner West Council have been working together on a project at Mackey Park, Marrickville. The project, part of a broader Waterway Health Improvement Program (WHIP), proposed the installation of a natural planted stormwater treatment area within the park.

Several sites across Sydney were being considered for the program, which included site investigations, concept designs and community consultation.

The investigation of Mackey Park has found that due to engineering constraints, the site is not a feasible location for the program. A number of factors have led to this conclusion, including unforeseen requirements to upgrade existing infrastructure and clashes with existing underground services. For these reasons, we will not be progressing the designs for the park.

Since November 2017, the local community has shown an active interest in the WHIP. We thank you for your interest and invaluable feedback.
