Why do I need to register?
Do I really need to register? But I just wanted to share my thoughts.
Registration improves accountability and help avoid nonsense comments that might affect the trustworthiness of responses to consultations.
By registering, we know that you are a real person with genuine responses and opinions.
Registration is required if you wish to complete a survey or ask a question. Your privacy is protected and it's quick and easy to register and contribute anonymously with a screen username of your choice.
If you have already participated/ registered - click on the log or sign in button and enter your username and password.
If this is your first visit to Sydney Water Talk - Register here. Create a username and password and then provide a valid email address. It will only take a couple of minutes and allows us to confirm that you are a 'real' person, notify you each time we load a project page and avoid multiple submissions by the same individual.
TIP: Remember to check your email inbox to confirm your registration. Sometimes people accidentally click the confirmation more than once which may result in an error message. If this occurs just visit the Sydney Water Talk website and log in with the username or email address and password you used during the registration process.
How are online forums moderated?
Sydney Water Talk offers you the opportunity to engage, ask questions and share opinions on important topics in our region. All moderation is carried out by the website's host company Bang the Table and project staff.
If you post something that is unrelated to the topic then it may be removed in order to keep the content relevant. Any offensive or malicious comments will be removed. Further information can be found in the Forum Etiquette Guidelines and Moderation Policy.
How will my privacy be protected?
For any online comments, forums, ideas and stories you choose to contribute to, your screen Username will be publicly visible, but all other information will remain private. Please make sure to choose a Username that you are comfortable being publicly visible.
What happens to my feedback?
All comments, ideas and suggestions are collated and used by the relevant team to inform the development of strategies, projects, programs and activities, or to gain an insight into community views and opinions.
The feedback we receive online is used in conjunction with feedback we receive from other consultation events and face-to-face engagement activities such as workshops, meetings, onsite sessions, or surveys.
While all feedback provided as part of an engagement is considered in the decision-making process, this does not mean that every suggestion can be taken on board and adopted as proposed.
How can I participate?
You can share your thoughts, ideas and feedback with us in a number of different ways.
Some consultations will take place online through surveys, polls and other opportunities to provide feedback. Other consultations will involve online or face-to-face meetings, stakeholder workshops and events.
By registering for Sydney Water Talk, you will be able to share your thoughts online and register to attend workshops and consultations.

What are closed groups?
Some consultations are open for public feedback and are accessible to all registered site users. Other consultations require feedback from specific groups of people, for example, Sydney Water customers only, and are closed groups.
Closed groups are an efficient way of receiving feedback from a select group of people related to a particular area of work we support.
How do I join a closed group?
Closed groups are only accessible to specific groups of people relevant to the consultation. If you would like more information about becoming involved in specific groups, please contact us.

I can’t find my confirmation instructions. Can you resend these?
Make sure to check your spam inbox. If you have not received a confirmation instruction email, you can resend it here.
Why do we have to do the activities online?
In the current COVID-19 environment it is not possible to conduct the groups face-to-face, therefore we have switched to an online format. We have split the content between the Sydney Water Talk website and a shorter Zoom group hosted by our partners, Woolcott Research and Engagement.
How much time should I spend on the activities?
We expect that the activities on Sydney Water Talk will take around an hour to complete. Obviously, if you would like to spend more time on them, and provide more feedback, then you are more than welcome. The Zoom forum will also last around an hour.
Does it matter which order I do the activities in?
The activities should be completed in the following order:
The reason for this is that the information builds through the activities so if you try to do them out of order then you won’t have all of the information required.
The Zoom group will take place after all the online activities have been completed.
How are public comments moderated?
All comments are moderated 24/7. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments unless they are inappropriate. Comments are removed if they are offensive, malicious or significantly off-topic.
I’m having technical problems completing the activities on the Sydney Water Talk website, what do I do?
If you are experiencing any technical difficulties with this page or the site, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What do I need to do to take part in the Zoom group?
Woolcott Research will email you the instructions for taking part in the Zoom group. You will need a device such as a smart phone, iPad/tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
The device will need to have a microphone (most have a built in microphone) and ideally a camera. There will be PowerPoint presentations that will be shared on your screen during the Zoom forum, so it will be easier to see them on a bigger screen such as a laptop or desktop computer.
I’m having technical problems trying to get into the Zoom forum, what do I do?
Firstly, please refer to the email outlining the step by step instructions to join the Zoom forum. If you are still having problems please email email@example.com or call (02) 9261 5221.
When will I get my incentive?
When you have provided your feedback by completing the activities online and taken part in the Zoom group we will provide the incentive.
How will you pay the incentive?
Woolcott Research will ask you for your bank account details or will send you an e-gift card. They will ask you for your preference after the Zoom meeting.
Can I still get paid if I can’t do the Zoom forum?
We will pay $50 for your participation in the Sydney Water Talk activities and $50 for the Zoom forum. So if you can’t do the Zoom forum but complete all the activities on Sydney Water Talk then we will pay you $50.
What happens to my feedback?
All your comments, suggestions, and survey responses are considered as part of our planning and decision making process. This is a great way for you to be part of shaping our region’s water future.
