Currans Hill - project update and extended Saturday hours

Upcoming work

We have completed installation of steel panels to form the new reservoir. We now need to remove the temporary coating and replace it with a permanent protective coating. This work will take 12 weeks to complete from Monday 31 July 2023, weather permitting.

To meet critical project milestones, we will be working extended Saturday hours until 5:00 pm for the duration of this painting and blasting phase.

Our standard work hours

  • 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday
  • 8 am to 1 pm Saturday (we will be working extended Saturday hours until 5 pm for the duration of this painting and blasting phase)
  • We will not work on Sundays or Public Holidays.

This work will involve

  • delivery of specialised painting and blasting equipment
  • installation of temporary protective screens around the reservoir
  • blasting sections of the reservoir using high pressure blasting equipment early in the day
  • painting the blasted area in the afternoon.

Construction traffic and impacts

There will be no road closures while equipment deliveries are completed. You may experience short traffic delays while heavy vehicles navigate through the suburb outside of peak hours. Some traffic controllers may need to park in nearby streets on delivery days. Heavy vehicles will continue to use the route approved by Camden Council, via Turner Road, Ascot Drive and Manooka Road.
