Sydney Water is delivering an on-site treatment hub for Celestino’s Sydney Science Park development – a $5 billion research, education and residential hub situated across 287ha at Luddenham, Western Sydney, within the Aerotropolis growth precinct. Designed as a bespoke, onsite treatment hub for Sydney Science Park, the hub will link to a ‘smart’ wastewater system to recycle water to a high quality for commercial and construction use, as well as irrigation for public, open spaces. It will lead the way for future, similar developments across Western Sydney.

The hub will produce 1.2 million litres of recycled water each day – enough for around 10,000 people for toilet flushing, clothes washing, watering gardens and public open spaces.

Over time, capacity is expected to grow to around 2.4 million litres a day.

This project will help bring to life the Western Parkland City vision by creating cooler, greener places for people to live and work in.

Our partnership with Celestino will not only provide sustainable and resilient water services to Sydney Science Park, but also trial new, smart technologies for the future.

Construction of the hub started in August 2021 and is expected to be completed in mid-2024.
